Meet Chelsea Gressman

You have to meet Chelsea Gressman, who will be interviewed for The Hive. From the very beginning, Chelsea wanted to preserve the essence of the place while bringing her unique knowledge and style into it. She has lived in Africa, traveled through all the states of the USA, and now calls Nosara home. Her expertise and dedication have led to success at iconic venues like Blue Spirit and Norte Nosara.

Chelsea is a true force—a shining example of work ethic, high-intensity exercise, and a deep love for life. Her eco-conscious mindset means she wouldn’t even consider cutting a single branch of the already-planted trees. While you might not meet her at the hotel, as she has a concierge managing services, you can catch her spinning classes at Bodhi Tree or Buti sessions at Norte.

A Journey of Transformation

Refugio del Sol has been a part of Nosara since before it was “cool.” Back then, the hotel featured brown and mustard walls adorned with countless frames and rough surfaces that could leave a scratch if you brushed against them. Despite its rustic charm, it was always a welcoming place to stay.

When we met the new owner, it felt like perfect timing. She had just acquired the property, and it was exactly what I envisioned for YogaOrSurf Marketing Agency (YORS). As someone living by the beach, I’ve come to see endless opportunities to work directly with business owners, local tour guides, and surf coaches to curate unique experiences.

Understanding the value of mindfulness, I know that everything starts with the space that surrounds us. A thoughtfully designed environment sets the stage for a fresh, positive, and active mindset.

Redefining the Space

The transformation began with a complete makeover. The once dark and rough walls were painted a clean, refreshing white. Bathrooms were entirely revamped with custom-carved stone fixtures, beautifully chosen tiles, and big LED mirrors that illuminate the space perfectly—ideal for getting ready or capturing great photos.

No expense was spared in creating this little oasis. The lush vegetation surrounding the hotel features towering trees adorned with vibrant monsteras, pink blossoms, and fluttering yellow butterflies. The ambiance feels like sitting under a cool tree on the beach, but with all the comforts of a boutique wellness retreat.

Surf and Wellness: A Perfect Combination

After revitalizing the space, we layered in the surf experience by launching our first Air Surf School. The concept is simple: the hotel doesn’t need to invest in extra costs. All that’s required is good communication to coordinate packages and leverage existing branding elements like logos and photos.

At present, YORS is fully focused on managing the school operations for the curated surf experience at Refugio del Sol. We are not involved in the hotel's green updates or the creation of its new logo. This approach allows us to channel our energy into delivering a seamless and transformative surf experience.
