Located on the main street of Playa Pelada, Nosara, Hotel Refugio del Sol is a charming retreat that offers travelers an authentic experience in Costa Rica. Situated in the heart of this picturesque village, the hotel is just steps away from the beach, where visitors can explore the various sections of this beautiful coastline. At the beach entrance, you'll find iconic spots like Olga's Bar, a local bar that offers an authentic Costa Rican experience, and just a few steps away, on the left, La Luna restaurant and on the right, Emy.

Right in front of the restaurant, you'll find three essential elements for travelers. Restaurant El Chivo offers a delicious variety of American food, including burgers and wings, as well as live entertainment to enjoy during dinner. Additionally, Minimarket La Bodega provides the convenience of stocking up on local provisions, while the private coworking space offers a dedicated environment for those who need to stay productive during their stay.

From Playa Pelada, Playa Guiones can be easily accessed via an internal road, allowing visitors to reach this popular area in just 10 minutes, without the need to rely on tuktuks or other means of transportation.

The Transformation of Refugio del Sol Through a dedicated collaboration with YogaOrSurf (YORS) and Chelsea Gressman, we reimagined this space to reflect the true essence of Nosara: simplicity and serenity. This project was a complete overhaul—from defining a new brand identity to overseeing the selection of materials and local providers.

A Fresh Look, Rooted in Tradition We leaned into a clean, white palette to highlight natural wood and stone elements. Authentic touches, like the traditional white hammocks, bring a sense of Costa Rican charm, while the upgraded infrastructure—including custom-cut porcelain bathrooms, air conditioning, and hot water—ensures modern comfort in every corner.

Beyond the Build: On-Site Marketing in Action The result is a thoughtfully designed sanctuary of double-bed rooms and inviting shared spaces, perfect for relaxation and connection. I’m incredibly proud of the "Before & After" transformation we achieved here. It stands as a benchmark for On-Site Marketing: creating a physical space that naturally generates organic content and community interest.

The Path Forward In the world of hospitality, knowing when to move on is just as important as knowing how to build. While I am proud of the foundation laid here, my focus has shifted toward venues that are fully committed to long-term community growth and consistent brand evolution.

I am now channeling my energy into new locations that offer even more for my guests—think poolside sunsets and even shorter walks to the surf.
